The launch is a lie
by Jonathan Salisbury on Oct.02, 2009, under omphaloskepsis
So yeah… that was a bit of a pork pie as the cockneys might say. The site isn’t dead but it is rather comatose at the minute and probably will be for the next couple of weeks. I know you probably don’t want to hear about my private life but I can’t explain why I’m being so rubbish without it.
Don’t hurt me it’s beta!
by Jonathan Salisbury on Jul.29, 2009, under omphaloskepsis
Oh dear, has it really been over two weeks? Thing is I’ve done something rather foolish. The fact is that in the real world I’m a postgraduate student with a thesis due by the end of September and so every moment I don’t spend procrastinating is being devoted to that right now and probably will do until I actually get the damn thing submitted on September 30th. So realistically, whatever my good intention I’m probably not going to get into a decent update routine any time soon.
Starting up a new website while writing up my thesis probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do but in my defence I never expected anyone to read it. The plan was that I wouldn’t do much with this place before September 30th and then when that ticked round I’d put some real time into it and start telling people about it and maybe get some readers after that so really this pre-October phase is a beta that I threw up to get a feel of what I would do and so I’d have some sort of short archive under my belt once I really started to devote time to it.
Anyway what I’m really saying is sorry it’s rubbish at the minute and I’m not updating a reasonable amount at the moment but come October… come October it’ll still be rubbish but there should at least be more of it.
P.S. I swear I’ll my ‘Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition’ review finished in the next couple of days.
The Lists
by Persus-9 on Jun.05, 2009, under omphaloskepsis
Yesterday I decided I was going to post once a day but didn’t really take into account the fact that I had to attend a conference today so I was out of the house for 14 hours. That’s my excuse for doing another omphaloskepsis post rather then starting on the real content. Anyway, look at the top right hand corner, you see that button marked “the lists”? Well on that page I’ve typed up the lists of the games I own but haven’t played yet, the games I’m thinking of buying, the games I’m looking forward to, the games I’m currently playing and the games I keep meaning to play more having started them but then got distracted. The lists aren’t finished yet so it’s still a work in progress and in the future (once I’ve produced some actual content for this blog) I plan to link them to posts (probably by adding tag links to the names) so you should be able to use the list as an index.
Anyway if you check the list you’ll see I’m currently playing Test Drive: Unlimited and tomorrow or maybe the day after I plan to write up my impression of it and that will likely be my first real article.
Long live the new flesh!

I don’t have anything to say at this point I just want to kick things off so I’ve got something up so I can delete the default post.
Okay, okay, I didn’t take down my old site and install Wordpress without some kind of dream so I guess I could say what I hope to do here.
I want to do a videogame blog. Yeah, I know, there must be thousands of the bastards and mine will probably be rubbish but what the heck (damn it’s weird writing this when I know nobody’s going to read it). So what exactly am I planning? Well I pretty much plan to write about my gaming life, what I’m playing, what I’m reading on other sites, what I’m thinking etc. So expect to see informal reviews, news, opinion and good deals I see for buying new games in the UK. Review wise it will be PC centric with a bit of 360 and occasionally something on the DS because those are the platforms I own but I’ll touch on the news from all the major non-phone platforms, basically if I find it interesting I’ll throw it up here. Expect to see a lot of links to stories on Rock, Paper, Shotgun because those guys are the best of the best and post loads of interesting stuff.
